Out of the darkness...
Dzidek Marcinkiewicz
"Special Experiment"
(promo tape)
If one keeps a look upon what is happening in this country one could despair.
Even politicians have already become lunatic, but at least we are not out of good musicians, even though they are living in a foreign country.
Dzidek Marcinkiewicz is a Polish man, who lives in Germany since his 20th birthday.
Since then he cooperated in "Blues Company", who also played in Poland for some time, or the legendary "Trannsylvania Phoenix" from Rumania.
Dzidek is a talented composer and musician, which is proven by his first solo-album, produced under the title "Special Experiment".
The music on tape is no badly played progressive metal.
Primarily one can hear an electric guitar in the style of Vinnie Moore, but there are also quiet passages.
In the first composition "Kiss of a Vampire" one can hear long forgotten sounds ... from "Emigranten" or "Fatum".
Those of you who can remember the first performances from Edmund Stasiak know, what I mean.
A sharp, aggressive guitar and very sharp key sounds.
The second track "Centre Opti Fuga" is more quiet, which also reflects Dzidek's progressive side.
In this track you can hear guitar- and keyboard solo-parts following each other, which is very popular in the progressive metal style from today.
The other compositions are quiet similar - one song reminds me of a motor, where synthesizer sounds and guitar solo-parts are intertwined with each other, e.g. in "Fortune Memories"
There is also a more calm fragment like "Madhouse", a well sung ballad, which, in my opinion, does not fit the whole CD, but probably I cannot judge this properly.
Nevertheless one should be proud that a Polish man can make such music.
Sound examples can be found here www.special-experiment.de, a site which I also recommend.
